In 2022, Baigou New City invested RMB 13 million to build the Baigou Luggage Industry Digital Transformation Empowerment Center. The center, with the digital transformation public service platform as its core carrier, has built 12 functional modules to provide luggage enterprises with full-process digital transformation services covering production, supply, and sales.
AI Design: New Product R&D Speed Increased Multiple Times
"This popular item was designed by AI — it was favored by foreign merchants as soon as it went on sale," said Li Hongwei, general manager of Tianshangxing Luggage & Leather Co., Ltd., pointing to a backpack. Previously, hand-designing a piece of luggage took 3 to 7 days; now, using AI technology, renderings can be generated very quickly and then optimized based on algorithmic recommendations. Currently, among more than 4,800 luggage enterprises in Baigou New City, over 1,000 have applied AI design.
Standard Leadership: Establishing the "Baigou Benchmark" for the Industry
In terms of quality standards, relying on the technical advantages of the Hebei Provincial Institute of Standardization, Baigou New City took the lead in establishing a luggage industry standard system nationwide, covering 279 standards across raw material procurement, design and R&D, production management, inspection and testing, warehousing and logistics, and sales after-sales — with multiple indicators filling domestic gaps.
Industry insiders say that Baigous digital transformation path provides useful reference for the upgrading of traditional manufacturing nationwide. Through the deep integration of digital technology and the real economy, traditional industries are gaining new vitality.
